In less than 24 hours since his inauguration, Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, directed contractors on Wednesday to return to project sites and promptly repair deteriorated road sections across the Benin metropolis.
The Governor issued this directive while inspecting the Upper Mission Extension Road near Aduwawa Junction and the Ramat Park area in Benin City. He affirmed that his administration, aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda, is dedicated to restoring hope for Edo’s residents.
Okpebholo, expressing concern over the poor road conditions, promised immediate action, declaring that Edo people deserve well-maintained, motorable roads. “During the campaigns, I promised to hit the ground running,” he stated. “Today, I ordered contractors back to the sites. We have no time to waste.”
The Governor emphasized the urgency due to the seasonal window, saying, “There is only one dry season in a year, and now is the time to act.” Okpebholo assured that Edo citizens can expect significant road improvements as part of the state’s democratic dividends.
Rehabilitation work is set to start on several key roads, including the 7.5km Temboga Road, Lucky Way Junction at Aduwawa, Ramat Park/Slope Axis, Eyaen Road, and Obadan Junction along the Benin/Auchi Expressway.
Governor Okpebholo, inaugurated on October 12 with Deputy Dennis Idahosa, had highlighted road construction as a top priority in his inaugural speech. His tour concluded with the commissioning of a new branch of Premium Trust Bank in Benin.
