Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has disclosed a key reason behind his ongoing feud with Rivers State Governor Similayi Fubara. Speaking at a media briefing in Abuja, Wike accused Fubara of interfering in his family matters by removing a traditional chief and appointing someone else in his place.
Amid the escalating political tension between the two, Wike expressed his frustration, stating that the issue goes beyond politics.
“People speak of peace without understanding the full picture,” Wike stated. “As a former governor and now the FCT Minister, I find it outrageous that Governor Fubara, with access to federal allocations and high Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), would meddle in my family by replacing a chief with someone of his choosing.”
His remarks reveal the deeply personal nature of the conflict, underscoring that the dispute is not just about political differences but also about personal and traditional authority.
