The House of Representatives has approved President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State.
The decision came after a brief debate and amendments to the motion moved by the majority leader during a plenary session presided over by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen.
A total of 243 lawmakers attended the session, where the motion was deliberated and passed.
In a nationwide broadcast on Tuesday, Tinubu declared a six-month state of emergency in Rivers State, suspending Governor Sir Siminialayi Fubara, his Deputy, Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, and members of the State House of Assembly.
To oversee the state’s affairs during this period, the president appointed Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd) as Administrator.
