The Oyo State High Court has granted bail to Naomi Silekunola, the former wife of the Ooni of Ife, Oriyomi Hamzat, the Chief Executive Officer of Agidigbo FM, and the principal of the Islamic High School.

The three defendants are facing charges related to their alleged involvement in a tragic stampede during a funfair event in Ibadan last December. The incident led to the loss of over 30 lives, including numerous children, sparking widespread grief and concern across the community.

Presiding over the case, the court set bail for each of the accused at N10 million, with the requirement of two sureties in like sum. The decision aims to ensure their continued availability for trial while upholding their legal rights.

The tragic event, which unfolded during the funfair, has drawn significant public attention, with calls for accountability and improved safety measures at public events. The case is expected to proceed as investigations continue into the circumstances that led to the unfortunate loss of lives.
