Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has launched a fierce accusation against Muyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, calling him “evil” and alleging that Adejobi made multiple attempts to have him arrested.
Sowore made these claims during a Sunday X Space session titled SoworeGospels: Police Extortion and the Illegality of IGP Egbetokun. According to him, Adejobi’s previous efforts to orchestrate his arrest were blocked, but he eventually succeeded through the Force Intelligence Department (FID) and Deputy Inspector General of Police Dasuki D. Galadanchi.
> “They thought they could intimidate me,” Sowore said, describing the arrest as a strategic mistake that backfired on the police. He also accused Adejobi of manipulating senior officers within the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), stating, “Muyiwa is so obsessed with power that even Assistant Inspectors General and Deputy Inspectors General have no choice but to follow his orders.”
Sowore further criticized the NPF, suggesting that it should be renamed “Police Centre” or “Department” instead of “Force,” arguing that the current name promotes oppression of citizens.
The activist also highlighted a shocking case in which a man’s son was allegedly abducted on Adejobi’s orders after the individual posted a critical comment about the police on Facebook. Additionally, Sowore mentioned other victims of police harassment, such as blogger Destiny Ekhurutomwem, pointing to a disturbing pattern of abuse within the force.
Sowore’s allegations have reignited discussions on police brutality and the misuse of power within Nigeria’s law enforcement agencies.
