The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has issued a strong directive to military personnel across the country to step up their efforts in combating criminal activities and safeguarding the nation. He urged the troops to pursue and neutralize threats wherever they may arise, emphasizing the importance of leaving no safe haven for criminal elements.
General Musa made these remarks during the Armed Forces Remembrance Day Social and Award Evening, an event held to honor Soldiers, Ratings, and Airmen, which took place in Abuja on Sunday.
Addressing the gathering, General Musa highlighted the need for a proactive and decisive approach to security, stating that 2025 must be a defining year in the military’s campaign against insecurity. He underscored the urgency of addressing the various challenges threatening peace and stability in Nigeria, ranging from insurgency and banditry to other forms of criminality.
The Defence Chief applauded the dedication and sacrifices of the armed forces in their ongoing efforts to protect the country and called on them to sustain their resilience and determination. He urged every soldier, sailor, and airman to intensify their operations and relentlessly pursue criminal elements, regardless of where they might be hiding.
“This is the time for us to change the narrative,” General Musa declared. “We must take the fight to the enemies of peace, ensure that they are dislodged from their hideouts, and restore safety and security to every corner of the country.”
He further reiterated the military’s commitment to deploying resources, strategies, and manpower effectively to achieve the desired outcome of lasting peace and stability across the nation.
The Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration served as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by Nigerian troops in defense of the nation. It also provided an opportunity to reflect on the collective responsibility of the armed forces in addressing the country’s security challenges with renewed vigor and determination.
