MultiChoice, the parent company of DStv and GOtv, is set to increase its subscription prices, with the DStv Compact bouquet rising from ₦15,700 to ₦19,000.
Industry insiders reveal that the price adjustment will take effect soon, nearly a year after the last review.
The company cites the devaluation of the naira, rising energy costs, and broader economic pressures as key factors behind the price hike. These challenges have forced businesses across various sectors—including telecommunications, transportation, and consumer goods—to increase prices.
Other DStv packages will also be affected. The Family and Access bouquets will rise from ₦9,300 to ₦11,000 and ₦5,100 to ₦6,000, respectively. Premium and Compact+ subscribers will also experience increases, though specific figures are yet to be confirmed.
Similarly, GOtv subscribers will see price adjustments. The GOtv Value package will increase from ₦3,600 to ₦3,900, while GOtv Plus will go from ₦4,850 to ₦5,800.
Since 2023, Nigeria’s economic landscape has been marked by fuel subsidy removal, currency devaluation, and electricity tariff hikes, leading to a sharp rise in the cost of goods and services. Inflation hit 34.8% in December 2024, forcing many businesses to adjust their pricing strategies to stay afloat.
With ongoing economic uncertainties, consumers will have to brace for further price changes across various industries, including pay-TV services.
