The House of Representatives Committee on Finance has recommended exempting military personnel from paying personal income tax in Nigeria.
Committee Chairman Abiodun Faleke made the announcement on Thursday during a clause-by-clause review of four tax bills submitted to the parliament by President Bola Tinubu in October 2024.
Addressing the session, Faleke stated, “Mr. Speaker, honourable colleagues, the committee has proposed that the personal income of military personnel should be exempted from tax. This is due to the critical nature of their duties.”
The proposal received unanimous approval from lawmakers.
