House of Representatives Appoints Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Isiaka as New Deputy Chief Whip
Abuja, FCT | Tuesday, February 11, 2025 – The House of Representatives has officially appointed Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Ayokunle Isiaka (APC, Ogun) as the new Deputy Chief Whip following the passing of Rep. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga in January 2025.
The announcement was made during Tuesday’s plenary session by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, PhD, GCON, who stated that the decision followed consultations with the All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus and key stakeholders from the South West.
“Following consultations with the APC Caucus and other stakeholders, the Leadership of the House has received and accepted the recommendation of Honourable Isiaka Ibrahim to serve as the Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives,” the Speaker said.
A Ranking Legislator with Extensive Experience
Rep. Isiaka, who represents Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency of Ogun State, previously served as the Chairman of the House Committee on National Planning and Economic Development. A ranking lawmaker since his election in 2015, he has also held several leadership positions, including:
Chairman, Committee on Ecological Funds
Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Governmental Affairs
Chair of several Ad Hoc Committees

Speaker Abbas also took a moment to honour the late Rep. Adewunmi Onanuga, describing her as a dedicated lawmaker whose contributions to the House and the nation were invaluable.
