Abuja, Nigeria – Tragedy struck on Thursday as Major General Christopher Jemitola, former Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, collapsed and passed away at the IBB Golf Course in Abuja.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as one of shock and disbelief. Sources close to the family confirmed that he was rushed to the nearest hospital immediately after the incident, but despite all efforts, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Hailing from Ososo in Akoko Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, General Jemitola had an illustrious military career. He served as the Corps Commander of the Nigerian Army Signals, Nigeria’s Defence Adviser to Brazil, and Director of Army Public Relations, contributing immensely to the country’s defense and communication strategies.
Between 2003 and 2007, he served as President Obasanjo’s ADC, earning a reputation for dedication and exemplary leadership while still a Colonel. He later rose to become the Chief of Policy and Plans (COPP) in the Nigerian Army, further cementing his legacy within the military.
His sudden passing is a significant loss to the Nigerian military and the nation at large.
