The Abia State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled the Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) and former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara. The decision, announced by the State Working Committee (SWC), follows allegations leveled against him and a disciplinary committee’s review of his conduct.
A statement jointly signed by Abia PDP Chairman, Abraham Amah, and State Secretary, Peter Nwaokonko, confirmed the expulsion, emphasizing the party’s commitment to discipline and adherence to its constitution.
“After a thorough review of the committee’s findings and recommendations regarding the expulsion of Senator Adolphus Wabara, the SWC unanimously approved the recommendation contained in the report,” the statement read.
The party further declared: “Senator Adolphus Wabara is hereby expelled from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In line with Article 57(3) and 59(1) of the PDP Constitution (2017 as amended), which stipulates that an expelled member cannot exercise any rights or privileges within the party, the Abia State Executive Committee hereby recommends the immediate appointment of an Acting BoT Chairman by the National Working Committee (NWC) and the National Executive Committee (NEC) of our great party.”
Reaffirming its stance on discipline and loyalty, the statement added: “The Abia State PDP remains resolute in preserving unity, loyalty, and respect for party structures. No member, regardless of status, is above the party’s rules and regulations.”
The decision is expected to prompt the party’s national leadership to appoint a new BoT Chairman in Wabara’s place.
